![]() ![]() A defective heating element is frequently the. If it continues to fail heating, what else could be the issue? Any ideas? I really don’t want to pony up the $$$$ to purchase a new dryer when this one is such a good one. Electric heating elements, found in electric dryers, are self-contained units located in the back of the dryer. But I just now replaced that one with the second one, the L250-80 in hopes that it solves my issue. Go to step 1 Replace heating element, belt, complete teardown on a Speed Queen (Alliance) electric dryer. I initially installed the first fuse that matched the original one. The second fuse was something like L250-80. It is on the lower part of the heating element housing. The kit came with two fuses for one spot. I tested the thermal fuse first since that seemed to be the 1st. Last week it would run but stopped heating. If the wiring is correct, you may need to check the breakers to see if one was tripped. I have a 10 year old Frigidaire electric dryer. Make sure that all the wiring is connected correctly and securely. Additionally, you may have installed the heating element incorrectly. But after about 2 mins, it would turn off and not come back on. Check the model number of the dryer and the heating element, and make sure the element matches. If you have an electric clothes dryer, and it turns but there is no heat, its very likely that the heating element is faulty. I could see the hot glow and feel the heat. It would heat up for about 2 mins or less then the heating element would go bad. I replaced everything and it ran well for about 2 or 3 loads. Sometimes this does not happen for decades If your dryer stops heating, it might be. I purchase a kit that came with my model’s heating element, the two fuses, and three thermostats, even though I only needed two. The heating element does not need to be replaced until it actually breaks. They all had continuity, although pretty weak, but I decided that because it is an older model, to change out everything. When I pulled it apart, I check continuity on all the fuses, thermostats, and the heating element. I changed out the thermostat and it worked fine for 7 years. About 7 years ago the thermostat stopped working so the dryer wouldn’t dry. I got it used from an estate sale in fantastic condition. To do this, enter the full model number of your gas or electric dryer in the Repair Clinic website search bar, then select Fuse, Thermal Fuse & Breaker using the part category filter to identify the specific thermal fuse you need.
